ANOTHER DOMINATING PERFORMANCE AT KNOCKHILL BRITISH GT

Pairing with Hector Lester in the CiM Ferrari 430 GT3 at a cold, wet and windy Scotish Knockhill circuit, Allan Simonsen took pole, set the two fastest race laps, a new lap record and ended up on the second step of the podium. He also got a quite a champagne spraying!

Clearly, Allan Simonsen is absolutely loving his British GT Season so far.

In practice Simonsen and Lester clearly dominated.

But Knockhill was not as easy as the opening round at Oulton Park. Simonsen was forced to work hard for his second pole of the season since times were very close and the competition was hot on his heels.

The first race start was assigned to Lester who got away well but was very unlucky to spin off on some oil dropped by unanother competitor. He would spend the best part of four laps in the gravel trap whilst the field trundled around behind the safety car.

After rejoining for several laps he handed over the Ferrari to Allan who attacked the hilly track with gusto, setting the fastest lap of the race and a new lap record. They finished 16th.

With the field gridding up for race two it was now Simonsen's turn to start and he made the most of it from his pole position by leading the field through the Seat Curves and off into the distance, with Matt Griffin in the Chad Peninsula Ferrari 430 keeping him honest.

It wasn't long before the Dane would come up to lap the GT4 pack – a job he completed with ease, but so did the others behind him.

Simonsen pitted at the 37 minute mark sending Lester out to continue the defense, in the lead.

With 10 minutes remaining Lester was getting pressured by David Jones in the Ascari having got around the Aston Martin of Adrian Wilmot, after he was baulked by a slower car.

With only minutes to go the it was a drag race down the main straight with the Ascari was neck and neck with the CiM Ferrari. But with the Ascari taking the inside line, Lester found himself in second place going on to take the chequered flag.

"Hector did a great job today. He is driving very well indeed and its a real credit because the field is full of talent, said Allan.

"This is the best fun racing in British GT I have ever had and i've done a few!

Next weekend Allan gets aboard the Gigawave Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 weapon at Silverstone. It's a new car, a new team and a new opprtunity to impress. Stay tuned!

Having picked up 8 points in this round, Simonsen is now 2nd in the 2008 Championship, with 18 points.

Next British GT race is May 24-26 @ Rockingham.
